Wichita and Derby ordinances pass - go into effect this September
On July 22, Derby City Council passed a comprehensive clean indoor air ordinance. The ordinance includes no exemptions, prohibits smoking in all indoor public places and places of employment, and within 20 feet of main public entrances and air intake units. The ordinance will be one of the strongest in the state when it goes into effect on September 1. Derby is now one of only a couple cities that has increased the strength of an ordinanc after previously passing a non-comprehensive one.
On Tuesday June 3 the Wichita City Council passed the compromise clean indoor air ordinance on its second reading. The implementation date for the ordinance will be 90 days from June 6 (the day the ordinance was published), or September 5. If you have questions please contact TFW.
